Standard two-panel bypass doors block half your closet at all times. Triple-track systems eliminate that problem — here's how they work and who should consider one.

Standard bypass closet doors have a fundamental design flaw: half the closet is always blocked. When the left panel slides right, you lose the left side. When the right panel slides left, you lose the right. For a narrow closet this is a minor inconvenience. For a primary bedroom closet, it’s a daily frustration that doesn’t have to exist.
A triple-track system runs three panels on three separate channels — front, middle, and back. Each panel slides independently, so you can push them to any combination of positions. Fully open, every inch of the closet is accessible at once. Unlike bifold doors (which swing out into the room), the panels stay within the opening footprint and require no floor clearance.

The engineering difference from standard bypass is in the track depth. A triple-track header is wider than a standard two-panel track, but because it’s mounted directly to the ceiling line, it’s rarely visible from normal standing height. The bottom guide runs a matched triple channel secured to the floor.

Triple-track hardware supports the same panel options as standard bypass — mirror, painted glass, wood-look, and opaque glass finishes. McCoy mirror panels in the M-1000 through M-4000 series all work with triple-track headers. Contractors Wardrobe panel systems also offer triple-track configurations in their full range of finishes.

Triple-track installation is slightly more involved than standard bypass because the header needs to accommodate the wider track profile and the panel count. Plan for a half-day to full-day installation on a wide opening. We bring the custom-cut panels and all track hardware. The old track and panels come down first; the new system goes up in one visit.

We serve Orange County, LA County, and the Inland Empire. Free estimates — fast installation.
